The Jackson Mills Volunteer Fire Company (Station 54) is looking for men and women within the community.  No experience necessary, all training and requirement equipment will be provided to you at no cost. We simply ask for your time and dedication.


The best way to see what it’s like to be a volunteer firefighter is to hear the perspectives of people who do it each day. Meet a few folks who serve their community in this unique way and learn what their work is really like.


 

What are the benefits of being a volunteer firefighter?

Volunteer firefighters help their fellow citizens in times of need. Volunteers enjoy a sense of accomplishment, achievement, and pride in the work they do. In addition, volunteers get to learn new skills, make new friends, be a part of a team, give back to their community, and make a real difference. At Jackson Mills Fire (Station 54), Our volunteers receive the following:

What will I do as a volunteer firefighter for Jackson Mills Fire (Station 54)?

Station 54 provides the following services to the public and will provide or arrange for volunteer personnel to receive all required training at no cost to the individual.

  • Fire Suppression
  • Vehicle Extrication
  • Search and Rescue
  • Ice Water Rescue
  • Fundraising
  • Public Events

 

What are the minimum requirements I need to meet to be a volunteer firefighter?

Jackson Mills Fire (Station 54) requires all of its members to meet the following criteria.

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Hold a valid State of New Jersey (NJ) driver's license.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Completing a physical evaluation.
  • Available for meetings, drills, & work nights (Monday nights starting @7pm).
  • Attend the fire academy (if not already FF1 Certified).
  • Reside within a three (3) mile radius of either company fire station(s), reside in Fire District No. 4, or reside within one (1) mile from the border of Fire District No. 4.
